Basic Terminologies

  1. Region A region is a geographic area on the planet where one of AWS’s data centres is situated. There are two or more availability zones in each region.

Compute

  1. EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) – These are cloud-based virtual machines that you can manage at the OS level. Any of them can be played.
  2. LightSail – The networking, storage, and compute resources required to execute your applications are automatically deployed and managed.
  3. ECS (Elastic Container Service) – You can use it as a highly scalable container service to run Docker containers on the cloud.
  4. EKS (Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes) – Enables you to use AWS to deploy Kubernetes without requiring to set up and keep up a separate control plane.
  5. Fargate It is a serverless compute engine that enables server management-free container execution on AWS.
  6. Lambda – Operations can be carried out using serverless computing through AWS. You only pay when your operations are successful, which represents a significant cost save.

Storage

  1. S3 (Simple Storage Service) – AWS’s storage service allows us to store anything like files, folders, photos, documents, music, and more. An operating system cannot be installed with it, software, or games.
  2. EFS (Elastic File System) – Enables you to use file storage with your EC2 instances. It can be used by thousands of servers at once and follows the NFSv4 protocol.
  3. Glacier – A long-term, low-cost archiving service that keeps files on hand for several years or decades.
  4. Storage Gateway – You deploy it as a virtual computer on your local servers. For additional durability, you can backup your on-premise data to AWS.

Databases

  1. RDS (Relational Database Service) – Enables the use of relational databases like MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server. AWS is in charge of all aspects of these databases’ management, including antivirus and connection setup.
  2. DynamoDB – It is a NoSQL database with high performance and scalability. At any size, it offers single-digit millisecond latency.
