What is the reason for the popularity of organic milk?

In recent times, there is an increase in the popularity of organic milk in Chennai. It is due to their enormous health benefits, and people have realized its importance. However, cow’s milk contains two types of beta-casein protein, namely, A1 and A2. A2 beta-casein protein is rich in organic milk. A1 beta-casein protein has harmful effects and is abundant in regular milk. However, people have replaced their regular milk with organic milk. A study on 40 women who suffered from digestive problems was given organic milk as a substitute. It revealed that there are reduced symptoms in lactose intolerance, fecal urgency, and nausea. Hence, in this post, some reasons for the popularity of organic milk are discussed briefly.

Longer shelf life:

The foremost reason for the popularity of organic milk is that they have a longer shelf life than regular milk. Commercial diaries used a standard method of heating the milk to 160F for at least 15 seconds. But for cow milk Chennai undergoes an ultra-high temperature (UHT) process approximately at 80F for two to four seconds.  The UHT process kills all the bacteria and lasts for a longer time. The consumer reports issued by the dairy industry suggest that cow milk that has undergone the UHT process lasts for 40 to 60 days. On the other hand, pasteurized conventional milk lasts only for 15-17 days.

Digestion problems:

As mentioned earlier, organic milk is an excellent option for people who suffer from lactose intolerance. Some people genetically cannot develop enzymes that are essential for digestion. Hence, the enzymes in the milk help them in the digestion process effectively. But the enzymes in the regular milk are destroyed during the pasteurization and homogenization process. Organic milk retains the beneficial bacteria and enzymes even after undergoing the UHT process. Therefore, organic milk is the best option for people who have digestion problems.

Organic products:

Another prime factor for the increase in popularity is the various products made from organic milk. Nowadays, many retailers use organic milk for making ghee, condensed almond milk, curd, cream, and many more. These products use traditional methods to enhance the nutrients and taste. Organic products are free from artificial preservatives and improve the quality of life.

Therefore, the trend of using fresh cow milk in Chennai is increasing slowly in many parts. Hence, it is time to change from conventional milk to regular milk to lead a healthy life.
